Bicycle Safety: I am an avid cyclist and found this article through the comments. I've had some pretty nasty accidents, usually with a helmet.
One of the best things a rider can do to enhance bike safety is make sure their bike is in good functioning repair, meaning the brakes work well and the tires are on tight.
