ALL THEY WANT FOR CHRISTMAS . . .

December 23, 1991

We asked kids between the ages of 6 and 12 who were the visiting the Children's Museum the one thing they want for Christmas. Most kids were able to narrow their wish list down to one item. Of the 96 kids we asked, one wants a happy Christmas and another wants no sickness.

But the rest have more concrete desires.

The most popular item on most kids' wish lists is: MONEY. Fourteen kids polled requested it. Eight children want pets, with four of them asking for horses.

Wishes for toys include the always-popular teddy bears, trains, board games and stuffed animals. But the most popular toys are those of the electronic kind _ seven kids asked for Nintendo, and seven more asked for remote-control cars. Some other electronic gifts include requests for a stereo, a radio, a television and a typewriter. One boy had the gumption to ask for a computer.

Perhaps the most outrageous gift was requested by a girl, who is hoping that Santa will redecorate her room on Christmas Day! Poll conducted by Laura Berlier, 13; Amy Berlier, 14; Jade McGilliam, 12; Randy McDade, 16; Rhoda Cain, 13, at The Children's Museum of Indianapolis.
