NOVEL DESCRIBES SUMMER DAZE

Anna Turner's comedic young adult novel, "The Complexities of My Ever-So Shallow Teenage Life: Summer Vacation," tells the story of a Kentucky high-school student who attempts to plan the perfect summer vacation.

But it's far from perfect. Instead, Alyson Chakrapani finds out that three friends are going to be gone the whole summer, and her archenemy has recently started dating the love of her life.

It gets worse. After her brother throws a wild party and the house is destroyed, Alyson gets punished.

All of these calamities give the teen lots of free time to ponder the complexities of her "ever-so shallow teenage life."
