“Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re going to get.”

But, lucky for viewers, if you see the movie "Forrest Gump,'' you know that you're in for a treat.

The film follows the life of an extraordinary man with a below average IQ. The lack of "true intelligence" doesn't stop Forrest. From his days as a college football player, to his service in the Army, to his time as a shrimper, Forrest proves that he has what it takes to succeed in life. With his simple innocence and his good-as-gold heart, Forrest charms everyone he meets in this heartwarming film.

Director Robert Zemeckis does a great job, as great directing never goes out of style, but the real credit goes to Tom Hanks. He acts the part of Forrest and relates with the other characters well. For example, he portrays Forrest's innocence in such a a way that you forget that you are watching a major Hollywood star. Robin Wright was the perfect choice for Jenny as her emotions for Forrest really come through.

I particularly enjoyed the semi-documentary narration of Forrest’s life. It kept the continuity as he narrated his life. This movie’s challenge of societal norms echoes throughout. This is one of those movies that keep you thinking long after the film is over.

The message of simple goodness and doing the right thing is one that never dies. This one is a real tear jerker at times, especially as viewers follow Forrest's neverending love for Jenny.

One of the things that make a classic a classic is whether viewers relate to it and I believe that this is one film that people will relate to for years to come. Kids will definitely remember a time in their life when they didn't fit in. In a cynical world, Forrest Gump is an island of hope, humor and simple goodwill. Winner of six Academy Awards including best picture, this epic will continue to charm audiences for generations.
